P1: summarise accurately the principles of digital video technology in interactive media using some subject terminology appropriately
M1: explain the principles of digital video technology in interactive media with reference to detailed illustrative examples and with generally correct use of subject terminology
D1: comprehensively explain the principles of digital video technology in interactive media with elucidated examples and consistently using subject terminology correctly

Brief

You will write a report, produce a presentation or produce a media product (audio/visual) on how you interact with audio/visual media, and what platforms and devises you use to do this and why. This will help you to develop an understanding into why designers use digital video technology to enhance a user’s experience on an interactive media products.

Task

Discuss advantages, limitations and difficulties of access to digital video products on interactive media. Consider different delivery platforms that one can use to get access to digital video products including:
the web/internet
Disks – DVD, CD, Blu ray
Mobiles including iPads and tablets

The report/presentation must also cover:
Applications – TVcatchup, SkyGo, Crackle, etc.
Products – movies, advertising, short films, music videos, news
Tools – TV on Demand, youtube, Vimeo, Soundcloud, My Space, iplayer, 4OD, etc.
Service providers and Hardware – BT Vision, Sky Box, Virgin, NOW TV, Youview, Apple TV, etc.
Technology relevant to each application including Internet requirements, formats (avi, mov, mp4, etc), compression, codecs and aspect ratio
